The first low speed (open-circuit subsonic) wind tunnel facility at the department of mechanical engineering (LST-1@DME) is developed as part of the mechanical and aeronautical engineering faculties at IOE, and currently offers testing capabilities for force measurement and flow visualization of aerodynamic surfaces.
Specifications:
- Nominal Speed: 12 m/s
- Test section: 250 mm × 250 mm × 1050 mm
- Test objects: Wing-sections, semi-span BWB, horizontal-axis wind turbine
- Measurements: Smoke flow visualization with planar laser sheet, 2-axis load cells for force measurement, anemometer, pressure transducers, etc.
Currently, the typical experiment setup time is high @ >3.0 hours.
