A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Institute of Engineering, for Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Pulchowk Campus, and Daikin Airconditioning India Pvt. Ltd., on January 10, 2024, to establish a Center of Excellence for Heating Ventilation and Airconditioning (Daikin CoE for HVAC) at DMAE. The MOU paved the way for the establishment of the CoE within the next few months.

The MOU was signed by the Dean of the Institute of Engineering, Prof. Shashidhar Ram Joshi and the Director and CFO of Daikin Airconditioning India Pvt. Ltd., Mr. Tohsihide Takeda, along side Dr. Sudip Bhattrai [DMAE HOD] and Mr Vivek Kumar Sharma [Daikin]. The participants from DMAE-IOE’s side included HVAC poineer in Nepal, Prof. Rabindra Nath Bhattarai, Nepali HVAC experts, and DMAE faculty members. Delegates from Daikin attending the ceremony were Mr Rohit Vij, Mr Francis Lewis and Mr Susovan Maity, from Daikin Export Business.

The CoE will be used to train Nepali human resource in the HVAC sector, as well as for the academic projects and HVAC research at IOE.
